Free Walking Tours In Reykjavik
Reykjavik has three free walking tours, and they sit on two different booking platforms. Two are listed on GuruWalk and one on freetour.com. Each runs two hours, costs nothing to reserve, and is paid for at the end with whatever you decide the walk was worth. This site compares the three and operates none of them.
Every Free Walking Tour In Reykjavik
The table is built from the three listings themselves. It names the platform each walk is sold on, its length, the languages it runs in, its rating and its guide. The two platforms do not score on the same scale, so every rating is printed with its own: freetour.com marks out of 10, GuruWalk out of 5.

Each walk here is led by an independent local guide and listed on GuruWalk or freetour.com. Reserving a spot costs nothing; you tip the guide at the end whatever the walk felt worth.

How A Free Reykjavik Walk Works
Reserve a spot on the platform that lists the walk, arrive at the meeting point, and tip the guide at the end. No walk of the three publishes a price. Neither GuruWalk listing charges anything beyond the tip either: both state that the walk needs no entry tickets and no additional expenses. Both GuruWalk walks cancel free, and both need at least five bookings before they run.
Payment differs between them. Sweet Streets takes up to 10 people and is cash only, so a visitor carrying only a card cannot tip the guide at all. The Rainbow Tours walk takes up to 25 people and accepts card or electronic payment.
Which Walks Run In English
Two of the three. The CityWalk tour is listed in English only, and Sweet Streets is listed in English and Spanish. A Spanish speaker also has two: Sweet Streets, and the Rainbow Tours walk, which is listed in Spanish only. No third language appears on any of the three listings.
When And Where Each Walk Starts
The CityWalk tour departs daily at 10:30 and 13:30 from in front of the Parliament building on Austurvöllur. Sweet Streets departs at 11:00 on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the Harpa concert hall building. The Rainbow Tours walk departs Monday to Friday at 17:00 and on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 from the hill of Arnarhóll, beside the Ingólfur Arnarson statue, where the guide carries a rainbow umbrella.
One caution on Sweet Streets: the structured address on its GuruWalk page and the guide's own written instruction do not point at the same spot. Follow the guide's instruction rather than the map pin.
One Walk Listed On Two Platforms
The Rainbow Tours legends walk appears on GuruWalk and again on freetour.com, where it is listing 119317. Same operator, same meeting point, same language, same two hours. It is one walk rather than two options, and it is counted once on this page.
Each Walk In Full
One page per walk, carrying that listing's own figures. The three are also weighed against each other in the best free walking tours in Reykjavik, and reserving, tipping and cancelling are covered on the FAQ.
