This site is a directory of genuinely free things to do in Reykjavik, built around pay-what-you-want walking tours run by independent local guides. It covers three free walks, listed on GuruWalk and freetour.com, and each one has its own page with a fuller write-up. What This Directory Covers, And For Whom
Reykjavik's free walks belong to the guides who run them, and this site only writes about them. It holds no meeting points, handles no money and cannot amend or cancel a reservation, because every booking is made on the guide's own GuruWalk page or the freetour.com listing for the CityWalk walk. Start times, languages, group sizes and cancellation terms all live there. Nothing on this site stands between a visitor and a guide.
The directory is built for visitors comparing the few walks on offer, whose blurbs all sound alike. What separates them is practical: which platform each walk runs on, what language the guide speaks, when it departs, and what the route covers. Reykjavik is not a wide free-walk market. There are three walks in total: one in English on GuruWalk, one Spanish-only on GuruWalk, and the CityWalk walk on freetour.com, which is the city's oldest and largest. The write-ups name those differences so a reader can pick a walk rather than a promise.
Much of Reykjavik costs nothing on foot, and a guide is not a requirement for enjoying it. The nave of Hallgrímskirkja is free to enter, though the tower observation deck is paid, and the city's coastline, sculpture and public squares cost nothing at all. How The Research Works
The method is simple and repeatable. Every walk is read on its own page before it earns a place here: the route, the duration, the stated language, the guide behind it, and the reviews that walk has gathered. Reykjavik's free-walk field is small enough to check in full, so this directory holds every free walk the two platforms carry rather than a selection: two on GuruWalk, which is that platform's entire Iceland inventory, and the CityWalk walk on freetour.com. Ratings and review counts belong to the platform that published them and are reported as each guide's own figures, never averaged or estimated, and a walk with no reviews is described plainly as having none. Free-entry rules get the same treatment. Reykjavik's draws are heavily outdoor and public, but where an indoor space is free under a condition, a stated age, a particular day or a required booking, the rule is checked against an official source and the condition is written next to the claim. No one connected to this site has joined a walk, led one or visited an attraction, and no guide pays to appear or to rank higher.

The site operates nothing and sells nothing. The Sweet Streets walk and the Rainbow Tours walk are run by independent local guides through GuruWalk, and the Free Tour in Reykjavik is run by CityWalk Reykjavik through freetour.com; this site is affiliated with none of them. It holds no places, takes no payment and cannot change or cancel a reservation. Meeting point, group size, language and start time all live on each guide's own page, where a free spot is reserved and the tip is decided later.
The work is funded by referral links, to GuruWalk's pages for the walks there and to freetour.com for the CityWalk walk. When someone reserves a free spot through one of those links, the platform pays this site a referral fee. Nothing is added to what the visitor hands the guide at the end, and the fee changes neither the tip nor the price of any separate entrance ticket, such as the Hallgrímskirkja tower. Using the links is optional. Every walk described here can be found and reserved directly on GuruWalk or freetour.com, free either way, and the tip is set by the walker rather than by how the site was reached. One practical note: the Sweet Streets walk is cash only, so a walker with no cash cannot tip the guide at all.
